On Feb. 2, BLM issued a Notice of Intent initiating a 45 day public scoping period on th eDRECP, which covers about 10.8 million acres of BLM land.

Renewable energy assos. and local governments expressed cncerns to the Dept. of Interior that the DRECP did not designate enought public lands for future renewable energy development. Riverside and Blythe government people said regulatory burdens created by DRECP would make projects too much cost, time, undue pressure on private lands. Pres. Trump, executive Order, 13783, "Promoting Energy Independence and Economic Growth" directs agencies to review all actions that could "potentially burdens the development or use of domestically produced energy sources."
