Since I don't know most of the people on the forum yet, thought I would introduce myself. Maybe it will catch on and more people will do the same, or maybe I'll just look like a jackass!
I'm in the Navy and stationed here in San Diego. I work in the weld shop. We provide welding services to all of the ships stationed here, and occaisonally on visiting ships in need of casualty repairs. I got into off roading a couple of years back. I like IH's, my dad (2scout2) has a few IH's but I don't own one. I owned a 82 CJ7, and now I drive a 1968 Landcurser (cause I hate dealing with smog!). I'm a journeyman welder, so fabrication is my strong point. I'm a descent wrench turner. I'm a terrible troubleshooter when it comes to electrical and carbs though. No, it's not a JEEP...

Welcome RisingSun. I too am in San Diego. I actually just bought my first IH back in March and have been doing some fixing and upgrades. Mostly getting my spring over lift fixed thanks to Chris at Rock Tech. I grew up around LandCruisers. I love them. I learned how to do most of my engine work and other things on it. Oh yeah, it is a 76 LandCrusier. It is still in the family, my dad and lil bro drive it. Anyways, I hope to see ya around town sometime, maybe on a trail run or something. I'll jump on board... Born and raised in internationals. Dad Bought a 79 scout back in 84, and we have had one international or another ever since. originally from Shaver Lake, I got married and Moved into the flatlands of Kerman, which is in the middle of Cali. its hot, flat, and full of people who speak another language, all things I am still not used to. The scout was my first "car" I have had it for about 7 years. Still love driving it around. By day I sit behind a desk, I am the A/R, H/R supervisior for a pesticide company called Wilbur-Ellis. By night I am a wrenching fanatic. I can and have rebuilt almost everything that a car/truck can throw my way. But, I cant weld worth a darn B) someday, Ill learn. 1972 SII: SV 345, Eldelbrock 4BBL, K&N, 12" Clutch, T-18, D20, D44's W/4.09 R&P, Detroit Tru-Tracs F&R, SOA, 35x12.50 BFG M/T's....Nothin' finer than a Binder!

When my husband towed a pile of metal 100 miles to our driveway I thought he had lost his mind. That thing was in the shop forever and oh my gosh the $$$$. I just did not understand! Then the FIRST time is was finished and ready to go . Our first run in the Scout was on Valentines Day and we had a picnic in AZUZA Cyn. And yes I fell in love... With OUR Scout. The respect other people had for the Scout, learning what she can do and how much fun we can have. I realized we had a diamond in the rough (corny but i am a girl) 6years later my husband and I still love to talk about how great the Scout can be. ugh$$$ Becoming Scouts West members has realy made being a Scout owner even more fun. So good luck(72intersctII) and hope one day your wife can find the diamond in all that metal.
Ok ya'll kinda new here, only posted a few questions up...I am down here in FL where there are very few scouts around.. I aquired mine about 5 months ago, i traded a hunting rifle for it.. I got a 73 Scout II, 345, auto tranny.. all bone stock...BUT NOT FOR LONG... i have since got d44 disc braked front and rear for it, lifted it & sittin on 38s now...still got a fair bit to do, but it runs and moves under its own power...Just being built for a mud toy so its not going to be anything super pretty and fancy...i will post up some pics as soon as the front lift is finished..hopefully within the next few days..
