Well as most of you know Ruthie claimed the "Goat", the 64 80 that I sold MY Ranger to get.
So I made a deal with Papaneil and traded my boat for the 62 that he had laying around. It aint pretty, but its gunna be a heavy trail rig so that doesnt matter. I have been slowly parting out the 71 Scout II that I have and keeping the frame and drivetrain. The PO before Neil did some strange butch mod to the frame on the 62, which is good since I only want the body. I will be starting on the "Scout 80-II" trail rig in the next month or so. The plan is to have it ready for IHWR 2011 for the hard trail, and have the goat ready for the bunny trail.
Wont be red............thinkin Duplicolor Ford grabber blue with an artic white top. Named her "Betty the Bomber". She wont be pretty....but she'll go ANYWHERE when I'm done.

Did alittle work on Betty today. Put an oil preasure gauge on, pulled the dizzy, shot oil down the cylinders, and made an oil pump spinner. Spun up the oil pump and got 40psi, turned the engine backwards for a few r's then went forward. Lined the cam bearing oiler up and wa-la.............the top is oiling.
Pulled the bent to hell front bumper off and assesed the frame cutting that was done on the shackle mounting area. Not sure if I'm still gunna use the SII frame or just trade the the springs and running gear over along with the power steering.
New bushings all the way around, new homemade front shackles, different rims and tires, fixed the wiring in the eng compartment. Pic was taken today, I'm gunna take it to work tomorrow on a dry run to see how it drives now. Finally got a dwell meter on it yesterday..........the points were WAY OFF. Its WAY better but not there yet, will play with it this weekend to see if I ca get it right and find the scraping noise when I turn right. Did a power tune and re-oriented the dizzy to the right location this weekend. Made new plug wires, and investigated the strange rubbing noise that I got while turning right...........found it. The "noise" was the drum rubbin on the brake shoes due to a loose wheel bearing. So I decided to take the wheel hubs off and see what I can see.
Why is it that people are to lazy to buy the right tool for a job? Whoever the last one who was in there decided that a cold chisel and a hammer was the right tool to spin the bearing adjusting/locking nuts and butched them up purdy good, so I'll be orderin some more parts on Monday to fix that too.
